An essential component of IT service delivery in Franklin County is collaboration between agencies. In order to build business relationships and foster an environment of support and knowledge-sharing within county government, the Data Center has created a monthly Franklin County IT Leadership Forum. The purpose of these sessions is to allow county agency IT leaders to meet and discuss issues related to the provision of IT services in Franklin County government. Accomplishments, challenges, and ideas are shared, and potential areas for collaboration are explored. Ultimately, these meetings provide an open forum where Franklin County agencies can share their IT experiences and concerns and discover opportunities to work together to provide optimal IT service delivery to Franklin County.
The inaugural Franklin County IT Leadership Forum was held on October 17, 2013, with 36 county IT leaders in attendance representing 23 agencies. Participants discussed enterprise software solutions and upgrades to the county network. Data Center CIO Ishreth Sameem addressed current disaster recovery initiatives as they pertain to individual agencies, as well as the entire county. The Data Center's communication process for outage notifications was outlined as well. Potential topics for future discussion include building mobile applications, developing an IT roadmap, and the total cost of ownership in IT.
Response to the Franklin County IT Leadership Forum has been positive, with agencies expressing an interest in continued collaboration and idea sharing. These sessions will persist on a monthly basis, with a different agency hosting each month. Ultimately, the IT Leadership Forum serves as a beneficial opportunity for agencies to continue to transform the dynamics of IT service delivery in Franklin County.
